Another year, another Call Of Duty pumped out of the presses by Activison. Almost like clockwork do these annual releases entice and delight gamers to enjoy the most basic of shooting mechanics and styles. I'm here to give a non-depth review of said title.

Modern Warfare 2 the most hyped game possibly ever is a first person shooter from the fellows at Infinity Ward otherwise known as "The only company that makes the good Call of Duty games"

Their latest offering is a heart pounding roller coaster of excitement and thrill with new modes, campaign and an somewhat upgraded multiplayer mode. Let's dive in shall we?

:SINGLE PLAYER:

When you hear Call of Duty single player isn't exactly what you think of. Most of the appeal comes from the addictive online mode, but just like Modern Warfare 1 this is an exception.

Our story takes place 5 years after the original. Now let me say if you haven't played the first one nothing will make any sense what so ever. It follows pretty much a decent storyline, but at moments can be convuluted and confusing. Some scenes are cheesy and makes you feel like you're playing the game of a blockbuster Hollywood movie and not a Call of Duty title, but with that said from beginining to end it's a complete heart pounding adrenaline rush with no stopping. You will not be dissapointed at anything, but the length. It runs at about 5 to 8 hours depending on your difficulty. It has more variety then what we've seen before. Which is good you never feel like it's dragging or it's repetitive. Overall the single player is wonderful and for fans of the series it's amazing and the ending pretty much promises more Modern Warfare to come.

:SPEC OPS:

New to Call of Duty this year is Spec Ops which is a co-op or single player mode containing fun little challenges  such as eliminating waves of enemies, snow mobile racing and just good fun shooting. You collect stars for completing them which unlocks new tiers of missions. I have to give Infinity Ward a big thumbs up for this little addition. With 69 stars and the option to do them from regular to veteran adds alot of content to this package. You may find yourself having more fun with this than anything else it's got loads of variety and it's just plain fun from the same old run n' gun of campaign or multiplayer.

:MULTIPLAYER:

Now we come to the main appeal of Call of Duty.

If you’re looking for an even deeper and lengthier multiplayer experience, the series’ vaunted competitive play modes will likely prove even more satisfying.

As has become standard for the franchise, players can spend weeks and months leveling up their online avatar by earning experience points in battle and completing a massive array of challenges, such as killing a certain number of enemies from a crouched position or with a throwing knife. With each new rank and completed challenge comes a host of rewards, including new insignias and call signs, additional equipment, and useful power-ups that will give you a tiny edge in battle.

The most noticeable change comes in the form of new killstreak rewards. Each time you manage to take out three or more foes without dying you earn access to a special perk, which could range from an automated turret to a remote piloted bomb shot from a UAV to a game-ending nuclear device (which I’ve only read about and have yet to see, as you apparently need to kill 25 enemies in a row to earn it).

It had the effect of making me a more cautious player. I didn’t want to get capped before hitting a streak and earning a reward, so after a couple of kills I’d hunker down and move around as though I had only a single life to spend. What’s more, I could feel other players doing the same. The pace of play slowed ever so slightly and the battle became tenser as we snuck around trying to cement our killstreaks.

But while console gamers will have nothing to complain about, it’s worth noting that the PC version of the game might not be all players hope for. It’s virtually identical to its console counterparts, which seems great on the surface but also means that some freedoms typically enjoyed by PC gamers are absent.

Overall it's improved from the last game which is saying something.
